Tournament Recap

What a day! We had so much fun. 16 teams - eight women's and eight men's competed in an all day tournament. Pool play started at 8:15am and most teams finished by 11:30am allowing us to start bracket play on time and some courts were even early!

Teams and players came from all over the region - Eugene, Springfield, Bend, Portland. Some knew each other and some were brand new but everyone was awesome. It was great to see all different levels of players getting excited about the game.

The Men's final match between Tim Shpiruk and the Gladiators was a tough battle. Gladiators came up from the losing bracket and took the first set but Tim's team dug deep and won the next two sets and walking away the big winners. On the women's side, the two final teams - Lei and Megan - battled all day. Lei took the match in pool play but when they matched up in the bracket, Megan's team ended up taking the match and forcing Lei's team to come back to the finals through the loser's bracket. The championship match was a tough one - Megan's team taking the first set but Lei's team taking the next two and the W. Since they came from the losing set, we had another match for the double elimination and Lei's team ended up taking it and the championship!

What a day of volleyball! We are so thankful for each and every team and player. But it wouldn't have been successful without the amazing officials, our fantastic tournament director and a huge shout out to Pro-Bone-O for coming by. Our sponsor - Sonny's Wellness - was there dishing out CBD drinks and selling products that we all needed after a long day of playing!

Thank you all - much love!

Local Non-Profit: Pro-Bone-O

Pro-Bone-O has been a nonprofit since 1999! We operate two clinics per month, located at the Eugene Mission. Each clinic is staffed by volunteers, licensed veterinarians and CVTs, as well as students earning hours through the OSU School of Veterinary Medicine. Our clinics are completely free for people, living in Lane County, who are currently experiencing homelessness to bring their pets. We see between 1,000 and 1,200 pets per year. In the future, we would love to be able to serve more animals and to serve our unhoused community members in rural Lane County.

Our current needs:
Volunteers to help at the clinics- Sundays 8:30-1:30pm. (Must be 18- due to liability around bite risk, which is very very rare at the clinics)

Donations:
Cat food, Cat litter, wet food (dog and cat are needed), puppy food, kitten food, grain free dry kibble, extra large doggy jackets (we are always low on the big ones), extra large doggy hardnesses, small kitty cat harnesses, cat treats, dog treats, flea medication.

We can also take partially used/open medication and pet food.

Cash donations can be made by mailing cash/check to: Pro-Bone-O, PO Box 1823, Eugene, OR 97440. Or with a card via our website. Donations help us keep the doors open and also pay for procedures for animals. We often have animals that need amputations, lump removal, spay/neuter, and dental extraction. Donations also help us buy needed supplies such as vaccines and veterinary equipment!

We also have supply barrels, if anyone would like to host a barrel for a supply drive at their place of employment or church!

To the team that brings the most supplies, we will provide a $50 discount into their next tournament! Let's help our furry loved ones!
