Tournament Recap

The weather couldn't hold these teams back! Another tournament in Eugene and we saw players come from all over - risking the snow and ice to show up and show out! While a few of the women's teams dropped, we still had a great turnout of nine women's teams and 12 women's teams.

The women played in three teams pools and had a quick day, making light work of the pool play. There were big hits, big blocks and a whole lot of fun watching these teams play. Unfortunately, we had one pool stacked with three very talented teams, dropping one team down into a lower bracket. The upper bracket was tough - watching the winning team from the January tournament go into a double final AGAIN! Unfortunately, they couldn't get the W two tournaments in a row and the win went to Helen Parker. It was a battle all day between these two awesome teams, close sets all day and a huge congrats to Helen Parker and team for pulling it out in the end.

The men's side was full with 12 total teams and had some amazing matches to watch. We had the same situation with one of the men's pools with three very strong teams. We communicated and made adjustments where possible to ensure all teams playing were happy and seeded correctly going into bracket. The end results were great and we had some more big battles.

The upper bracket - eventually going to Rob Holmes - was a hard fought match with local team The Gladiators. They wanted the W for their hometown but unfortunately were just a little short. This was the second time they walked away with a hard fought battle in the championships. Rob Holmes team just came ready to play and pushed at the end to walk away the champs.

The lower bracket was a close competition, fought hard by local team Timmy Beick against newcomer RJ Cayetano. Picking up subs and creating a team in short notice, RJ Cayetano gave Timmy a run for their money but just couldn't quite come up with the win. Congrats to Timmy Beick for winning in the lower bracket!

We encourage those who are passionate about adult volleyball to join the adult committee to help ensure the smoothness of the pools and brackets for future tournaments. These tournaments are more successful with your input - we'd love to have you! Email admin@bridgevolleyballcrew.org to learn more.

Quote from ShelterCare program participant -
“During COVID, there weren’t places to just go. It was the day before my birthday, in 2020, that I got diagnosed (with colon cancer) – I got surgery instead of cake that year. With the help of someone at Willamette Valley Cancer, I got into ShelterCare’s Medical Recuperation program – I didn’t even know it existed! I have no idea what I would’ve done had there not been ShelterCare programs. It was the perfect thing at the perfect time each time.” - Rob, ShelterCare program participant
